Disassembling and reassembling an 8890

Hey guys,
I'm about to get some new external painted shells for my 8890 (thanks again Luke! PCT rawks!!! ) and I'll need to disassemble and reassemble my machine with the new chassy.

Has anyone done this before? I know it's a bit of a shot in the dark, but I figure any tips or pointers would be helpful as I'm a total novice. I'm confident I can do it, but any insight would be appreciated.

EDIT:
I've got the shells now and man, the chameleon one looks pretty sweet. I'm going through the service manual now looking at what to do, but any tips would still be appreciated. I'll try and document the process, but I'm stupidly short on time, so I'm not sure how detailed it'll be.

Yeah, Luke sent me some old painted demo cases they had laying around at PCTorque. The 8890's been discontinued (for a while now), so with no need for demo machines, they were just collecting dust. He sent me two, the moss green and the purpleish kameleon. I put on the kameleon one simply because it had most of the panels to go along with it whereas the green one was missing a bunch of the underside covers and modular bays.

I've done it now and there's only a few little annoyances. The largest is that the bevel that goes around the LCD is the wrong size. I must have a different screen in mine than they had in their demo model, so I'll have to keep using my standard grey one. Same with the optical drive cover - mine is the cd/dvd combo and they had the dvd-rw, which has the holes in a different place. Other than that, the only other annoying things were the $60 customs charge I had to pay ( ) and the little scratch in the screen because I dropped a screw on it ( ).

Thanks again Luke!

EDIT:
I mentioned I might document it, but I pretty much followed exactly what it says in the Service Manual. Make sure to remove all the screws as described though because there's a few screws which hold together more pieces that it would seem.

Here's the before/after of the back. Hard to get good shots of the kameleon though.
