Mighty Mouse Review, **winxp user**

Got the mighty mouse finally after a week delay, when I got the mouse , the first thing that amazed me was the package design, then when i opened it the mouse deisgn amazed me, then the way the cord was tied up amazed me.

first let me say why I got this mouse as a windows user. As a veteran windows user AND a graphic designer i have to say osx is obviously better overal, especially aesthetically. So over the past month or so i've modded my windows using syltexp, object dock etc... to try to get more of a mac feel or less of a winxp feel however you want to see it. This mouse is part of that urge to have a more mac feeling although i can never get a 100% mac feeling off a pc. I know what your saying, I could just buy a mac but, then my pc would be rendered useless and it is a pretty powerfull pc already. I do play games and I have a razor plasma LE mouse 1600 dpi which is amazing with games and is comfortable, but for graphic design i wanted something that was more mac'ish so i got this mouse exclusively for design/ recreational use.

The scroll ball is pretty cool, the ball needs to be rolled with pressure on it or it wont work, it has the internal speaker which is cool and has a click feeling that only comes up when windows is loaded. scroll ball is in a bad place, its basically in the same place as other mice, but its small and its a ball its not long like regular scroll wheel which means you have to use your finger tip to scroll which gets really strenuous. right clicking works pretty good, the lifting finger thing is no bigdeal, only downer is cant right and left click at the same time. middle click is cool, it works by pressing down the ball then clicking, as long as the ball is pressed down any click will be middle click. squeeze buttons are kind of stupid, hard to do too, good thing is you only have to press 1 side (windows), bad thing is both sides are seen as the same button. its comfortable, same as the current mac mouse, might be shorter though im not really sure. cord is really short, talking maybe 20 inches maybe less. it moves slow had to bump up the windows mouse speed which kinda messed with my razor settings. horrible for gaming cant even right click and left click at same time, but i guess if your using this mouse you cant expect to right click since it is a "mac" mouse.

i guess the most important thing, do I get a mac feel when using windows? it does enhance the feeling, i think its the smoothness of the mouse thats missing maybe theres a download that smooths the mouse. Also i think the mouse cursor is different on a mac? i think it is. i'd say my pc feels 50% mac which isnt enough to trick me but i guess is good enough. I'm not sure if the mouse pad matters with these apple mice, but i certainly have a bad mouse pad which could be contributing to not so smooth cursor. Also had a few bad cursor jumps, might be my pad but i think the dpi on the mouse is sub 800 because i've never had 1 mouse jump on my razor with 1600 dpi. but the mouse does its job, when i hold it, it is very comfortable and soothing and i dont feel like doing any thing really fast, gaming etc.. the experience feels slower and more comfortable.

Isn't it fun! Opening my iPod 3G was a fantastic experience, and so was opening my Mac Mini.

Good idea with using the mouse as part of a "skinning" for windows. I have my laptop and desktop set to look and feel pretty much as close to OS X as I could get. Maybe adding the mighty mouse would be a good idea too....but I am still going to wait for that bluetooth!

I play WoW on my WinXP Machine, and I have one BIG ANNOYANCE with this new MightyMouse.

YOU CANT CLICK BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME! (Which would normally move your character forward in the world.)

You press both buttons, and it generates a LEFT CLICK.

Try it!

Are you serious? Have you ever used the mx series (mx 700, 100, 505)? Without a doubt the best mice I have ever used, and well worth the money.

But knowing how well Apple does their interfaces (Ipod, etc) a mouse should be really cool!
