PC 4200 vs. 4300

I've been looking around the net and notebookforums.com for hours now, and I can't find anything on my memory question...

I wanted to upgrade my memory from 512mb (2 x 256) to 1gb (which was always my intention, i just didnt have the money at the time). So i open up the RAM compartment on the bottom of my 9880 and take out a module. On it, the sticker says PC4300.

4300??? I thought 2100 x 2 was 4200. But RIGHT ON THE sticker it says PC4300.

I cant find PC4300 modules ANYWHERE and all the websites i've been to (including the Sagernotebooks.com accessories page) that say PC4300. I figured it would be a misprint on the sticker, but CPU-Z says PC4300 also (266.67 MHz).

FFS I am so confused and frustrated. Which RAM is right for my NP 9880? I'm just looking for 2 256mb modules.

Thanks.

they're the same. right...

I got this off some forum

"The confusion around DDR2-533 (PC4200 vs PC4300) is simple: PC rating for DDR2 modules can be calculated by multiplying the clock by 8. That would result in PC4264 for DDR2-533 memory -- which could be rounded either down to PC4200 or up to PC4300 " -Fiery

So then I can use any old DDR2-533 PC4200 memory? Gah why do they have to confuse the market...

[edit]
ok reading more of the topic you linked to, i understand better. i can just go with a brand-name stick of DDR2-PC4200. sweet.
