9860 wireless connection OK at startup, then cuts out after 15-20 minutes. Can get back by either restarting 9860 or by cycling card off, then back on. After another 15 minutes or so, same thing. I would suspect a heat-related problem but it only is affecting the wireless card. Anyone seen this before? Have replaced drivers and GN-WIAG utility, no help there.

I'm assuming you have the MSI wireless card. If you do, it's a "ralink" driven card...

I downloaded and installed the 11g-RT2500 PCI/MiniPCI/CardBus 2005/04/25 driver "Drv3.0.3.0" for windows xp.

This eliminated by on/off/on/off/on/off problem with my card.

It seemed to work for one other member of this forum as well.

Of course, with all of my advice, use at your own risk.

No, I have the Gigabyte GN WIAG super g wireless network adapter. Anybody got one of these?

Read this post.... I just had a ton of problems and fixed them. If your battery isnt fully charged, it will draw power from your video card and cause a slow down... also you could have latency, however mild, from a XP utility that interferes with your wireless connection... drop the battery and turn the wireless zero config utility off.

Sorry to bring back up an old post but I have a related problem. First off, my 9860 does the same thing.....kinda. I was traveling a lot and when I was on the road I would connect to the hotels wireless and it would be fine for a while, then drop the connection. I had to right click on the wireless connection in the tray then:

view available wireless networks/change advanced settings/wireless networks (tab)/Use windows to configure my wireless network settings

I would always have to recheck the "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings" box!! After doing that, it worked fine until I restarted the system, then I have to recheck that box.

This brings me to my related problem, I'll set things up in windows only to have them revert to a setting like it's a default setting. Even for my video card! I'll set the card up to a "fixed aspect" setting and I have to do it for every restart. Does anyone know a fix for this? I am set up as an administrator but I'm not really great with XP.
