OpenGL 1.4 & Radeon 7500

Hi,
There's a game I want to play that requires OpenGL 1.4, but I can't seem to find a set of drivers for my card that has it. Anyone have any clues? Or is OpenGL1.4 not supported by the Mobility Radeon 7500? I've tried Sager's drivers for my laptop (np8880), the catalyst 3.9 drivers with that mobilemod program and Omega's newest 3.10 drivers.

Lightbulb No GL 1.4 for you, one year!

tygirwulf,

The Radeon 7500 doesn't have support for some of the OpenGL 1.4 features, namely depth textures and shadow lookups. In fact, only Radeon 9500+ (DX9 parts) include these features. Time to get yourself a 9600.

Have you tried playing this game you speak of? Chances are that game will play fine, if you use the most recent drivers for your card, because assuming the makers are sane, they won't limit themselves to the tiny market of DX9 video card users. If not, well at least you tried.

Yeah, even with the then-new Omega drivers, the game still would not play. A couple of days later, they updated the game (it's an early alpha mmorpg) and then suddenly, it worked for me, though they still state OpenGL 1.4 as a requirement. I do get odd graphical glitches now and then but I can deal with them.

As for getting a 9600, I've decided to get a desktop system later this year, so that or a 9800 is a distinct possibility. I realized my laptop was getting old when I had to play the new games I got at christmas on lowest res.
