Exclamation Benchmark: 3dmark05 score a bit low on M50?

hey,
i bought a toshiba m50 for uni in august because it would be too much of a mission moving my desktop there and back all the time.
the spec is:
Intel centrino 1.73ghz 2mb L2
Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family 128mb (aparently)
1 gig SO-DIMM DDR
60 gig HDD

The graphics card seems to be using 8mb of my ram, and supposidly its 128mb onboard, but with this set up on 3dmark05 i only get 184marks This is a bit of a joke as my desktop gets about 2000 odd with a 9600 pro.
Is this score a bit low or are there any new drivers or anything to increase the performance a bit, or it this normal?

thanks, A

Unfortunately the GMA900 is an absolutely useless card when it comes to gaming and that score is about right

If it uses only 8mb of ram, I don't really think it should be any better at all...

Try dedicating more ram to it

I feel your pain. My past laptop "Sony VAIO PCG-K13" had shared memory. I would try to access BIOS and changed the shared memory. I could bring my past card up to a whopping 64mb. So I learned from my mistake and bought this new laptop with a dedicated 256mb. Good luck!

You’ll hear a lot of people slagging the Centrino set’s, mostly gamers, they are easy to spot, typically the ones with a laptop on a cooler seven feet from a wall, a fan screaming like an old Oldsmobile, relentlessly benchmarking.

I abandoned gaming on a notebook, favoring the experience of an Xbox and 16:9 telly, in fact I gave away my ATI GPU notebook to a gf because it was nothing more than an electric frying pan and space heater.

Enjoy your Centrino package for what its built to do. I’m night skiing at the Fairmont Chateau, Whistler, no wires, no heat, no noise, and certainly no games, well, not till later my only hope is, his benchmark score beats 184!

Play games on a consol
Live life with Centrino

my M40 centrino with the GEforce 6600/128mb has run EVERY game
out there at high detail.. such as:

half life 2: absolutely no problems, smooth movement
Doom3: absolutely no problems, smooth movement, set 1 below highest detail
Silent Hunter 3: super smooth and slick!

..anyways.. i hate big hulking desktops. .argh.. but yah, dont bother gaming on the intel gma..

You should see Doom III on Xbox & a 42 inch plasma, Half Life II is just incredible.

I was at a friends place the other day watching FS2004 on a GEforce 6600, pretty jerky indeed. Shame they don’t have it for consol hehe

Hey F, just noticed you are across the Rockies.
No place on earth like skiing in Canada, no place.

Have’a happy lappy 06 people!
