Looking for something fairly portable, 14" - 15.4", that is really well built and sharp looking. Won't be gaming much, mostly office stuff, internet surfing, maybe some digital photography work, sort of an all purpose machine. I'd like to stay under $1,800. I've been looking at the Asus W3v, Asus Z70va, and Sager 5320. Good battery life would be a plus. Also, what do you all think about screen sizes and resolution. Is 15.4" too big to be a good portable. In 15.4" is wuxga too much for word processing? I'm leaning towards wsxga. Thanks.

I would look at the Z70Va or the Sager 3880, both get great battery life, although the 3880 is only available in WUXGA and I have come to realize that it is too small for most things.

If im not mistaken the 5320 and 3880 have similar batery life . but with the 5320 you could always get more because of the media bay battery.

I dont know anything about asus exept for the fact they make stylish and quiet computers (again I might be mistaken)

You are mistaken. The 3880 has much more battery life than the 5320, though the 5320 is considered the more powerful of the two.

Then again, people can always buy extra batteries so i just say get which one is the more appealing.

i say go Asus for 3 reasons:

1 - WSXGA screen (WUXGA will make your eyes bleed)
2 - better build quality (Clevo builds them well, ASUS is just a bit better though)
3 - its an ASUS . (period)

Is you choice ending on those 2 brand only?

Don't forget about the Lenovo IBM Thinkpads.

Oh and I find 15.4" a bit too big. Good size for portability/work would be 14"

all three of those are based on opinion, not fact.

although you're right that 1 is your personal preferance, and 3 is just opinion, 2 has some historical proof behind it. Clevo builds their laptops pretty well like i said, ASUS just puts a little more quality into it.

Which company gives better support to the customers? Because I've heard some bad stuff about Sager, I'm kind of worried about buying a Sager laptop.

Asus laptops seem a bit weaker in power though compared to the Sager laptops. But then again, I've heard about some of the quirky problems with Sager, so I'm worried about those also.

sager support is generally pretty solid, but then it all depends on the store you go wtih. if you buy from pctorque i don't think you'll have any problems when it comes to support, and if needed, warranty repair work.

I bought my Sager through DiscountLaptops.com and when I had some slight cracking in the case, they were fast and professional, and corrected the problem. I would suggest them to anyone who wanted to buy a laptop, and I have heard much the same about PCTorque.com.
