Adviced needed: X40 or P7010A?

I am currently thinking of either the X40 or P7010A3..

there difference is Can $400..

I like P7010 because:
1. it has build-in DVD. (a big thing for me)
2. it has Video Out (a big thing for me)
3. it is small.. but I worry it would be too small the monitor it is.. 10.6" is cool and sexy.. but I never work on such a small screen before.. I just worry I can't get use to it. but i have been using big resolution before.. 1280x1024 on a 17" monitor.. however.. 1024x 800 on a 10.6 inches.. i dunno..
4. Memory stick slot.. i need that.

I hate P7010 and prefer X40 because:
1. [very important] I prefer the Eraserheard on X40 than the touchpad.. a big thing for me.. never know how to use a touchpad
2. X40 comes with 3 years warrently.. P7010 ony 1 year in Canada
3.. price.. a Can$400 saving is good... but no video out and no build-inCD.. i HATE it..
4 the 12 inches LCD seems to be a perferct size given that it is as light as the P7010.
5. no IR on P7010 .. but i dun use it that much.. it's just handy if i ever need it.

I basically know what are the pros and cons.. but anyone can tell me from a user point of view which one you prefer more? I haven't try either of the notebook (there is really no store with an IBM x40 or P7010 demo around Toronto...).. so, i hope ppl on this forum can help.

if someone like me.. who were a big big fan of eraserhead and move on to the touchpad.. please tell me your experience.

thanks

If I could help here, I would, but alas, I have no experience with either of these lappys...

Sounds like a tough decision really, isn't there a third option that could be considered?

What would your main usage for these ultraportables be?

Actually, the p7010 has a larger resolution than the x40, 1280x800. It's the same as your regular 17" width wise, but cut off a bit height wise.

The x40 has 1024x768, smaller resolution. But the thing is, since the p7010 is10.6" with 1280x800, the text and pictures are going to be a lot smaller than the x40's 12" with 1024x768.

EDIT: sorry was talking about the p7010d, not sure if p7010a is the same thing

Hbien, thanks for your input. All P7010 has 1280x 768 screen. The bigger resolution is simply because it is a wide screen. Yeah..the 10.6" would make things smaller compare with X40. That's what I am worry about if I like it when i have to use it for some time.

RuptuReD... 3rd option? people usually compare this with X40, and a Panasonic one (forgot the model number) and Dell's. The Panasonic one, I don't think I like the design... it has a circular mouse pad.. WEIRD.. also, I dun see it anywhere in Toronto. The Dell one. Very much like X40 .. no CD build-in..

What I am using it for? I would probably be a light user.. probably use it for internet and DVD when I am on trip.

thanks

I've been using T70J (japanese model of P7010) for the last 1 year, yet I haven't found the flaw of the system, perfect screen, great battery life, quiet fan, reliable DVD burner. The only thing I miss is built in bluetooth but that's not a big deal as we can put a dongle in it, similarly as IR.

Before I was worried as the 10.6 inch screen is way too small, but you have to see it to believe it....

Good luck in deciding....
