best way to get nvidia drivers?

hey guys. i've been using the nvidia-glx drivers for a while now just fine. but now that i have cedega and need all the graphical power i can get, i was wondering what the best way to get the latest, best, most optimized drivers for linux is. are the nvidia-glx drivers updated to be the latest nvidia drivers, or are they a basic package. and if the latter, what is the best way to get the best drivers for ubuntu?

did you follow the wiki on getting those running including changing the xorg.conf from "nv" to "nvidia" in that case, you do have the latest and greatest drivers. realize that unlike windows, we dont have the luxury of omega or ngo or whatever....just plain old nvidia-gfx (for nvidia) and fglrx (for ati). run "glxgears --showfps" to confirm they are working

The version in the repos is 1.0.8762 which is the newest drivers available. If you're running in 64bit I'm not sure if the repo drivers will install the 32bit libraries.

The main advantage to the repo drivers is that when ubuntu pushes a new kernel update the drivers won't break. The one's from the nvidia site probably will. Trash XGL/Compiz if you want to use cedega or google earth.
