Unhappy Need DVD/CDRW help....might be an idiot....

Ok so I bought my sager last december and have loved it. Well I recently decided to try out the DVD burning portion of it.

Ran into some problems and to sum it up....when I bought it I thought "DVD/CD RW" meant BOTH DVD & CD RW. Well apparently it means only CD.

SO I can't burn DVDs. I am pissed.

OK so now to finding a solution.

1. I was going to open the back and see if I can go to best buy and get a laptop DVDRW drive. Can I do this?

2. Do I need to send this back to PCTorque and buy an upgraded drive?

3. What other options do I have?

This sucks.....

The device is user replaceable so a "trip back to Sager" is not necessary. I would probably buy a replacement unit on line rather than a Store in the local area unless the costs are nearly the same - most times the internet is much cheaper.

Here is a site that I have used in the past and recommend for such devices: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&SubCategory=5

Happy shopping.

So my next question would relate to replacing it myself.

I have got the screws off and even taken the battery and the lid over the fan area off. But for some reason the cover for the DVD drive doesn't want to come off.

I don't want to break it by pulling too hard. Any advice?

Good luck with the install! Let us know which drive you end up getting, and how you like it
