Good News for Core 1 Duo m5550 owners.

I just heard back from Alienware Customer Support, and they:

1. Confirmed that the Core 1 Duo m5550 is upgradeable to the Core 2 Duo.

2. A BIOS upgrade is suppose to be available by the end of the week.

I'm still waiting to hear back from them, if they will indeed, be selling the Core 2 Duo processors as an upgrade, and if so, the prices. The fact that they will be offering a BIOS upgrade, sounds positive. Hopefully, If they offer them, that they will be reasonably priced.

I'll keep you posted.

As for other Core 1 Duo Laptop model owners, I didn't think of checking about your models. Sorry. I'm sure it'll be the same.

Update: The heatsinks for both the Core 1 and Core 2 are the same.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to get the upgrade if it is cost effective.
