Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). The speakers on my T60P are quite good, and all the more so for a business class notebook. More than adequate for watching a movie.

I'm driving a T60p 2007-94U right now..... And I had a T43p....

I liked the T43p case ever so slightly more..... but, it's not a big deal.... fit and finish seem to be there.... the screen is great, the keyboard that I got has that "IBM" feel...... I haven't hooked up the wireless broadband yet, but bluetooth works great

I'm happy with the machine.... with three gigs RAM on it.... I can add a few things that make working in WindowsXP actually tollerable --and still have 2 gigs free for my apps.....

Nice if you do big graphics, video, CAD, visualization, etc, etc.... and you want actually want Windoze to appear intelligent and attractive..... and I do.... I look at this screen a LOT..... So even with a lot of services turned off... I add it back in....

At 1 gig.... MY T60p was ***constantly*** hitting the swapfile (thinkpad "thinkvantaqe" software, AV and anti-spyware, etc.... it all loads (and adds) up..... so I'd say two gigs is the minimum to actually use the machine for anything besides reading your email.....

But... I gotta say....
  • adding the additional 2 gigs was totally worth it.... three gigs of RAM is sweet --and no problem --(I'm using bios 1.09a)....
  • the 2.16ghz dual core CPU is a big jump in performance over the 2.13ghz Centrino I had
  • although I haven't tried to do any rendering yet --in AutoCAD... the FireGL card seems fine... very responsive..... and smooth...
  • and like I said.... "machine build / fit and finish and feel" are OK... not a big drop off in quality like so many feared

the machine is pretty quiet, given it has a Seagate drive.... Not a lot of fan noise. Someone mentioned "the speakers are OK".... Maybeeeee "OK"... But Don't expect "big sound".... But the screen is stunning.... everything you want (assuming you like this kind of screen)

But.... the RAM capacity.... having most things run in memory.... including the OS.... that's really nice.... and it's still a slim package, and it runs cool.... I don't hear a lot of fan noise at all --far less than the T43p

If you are interested.... many people actually have OS X running on their thinkpads now as dual boot systems --like MacBooks.... more about that at "thinkpadforums.com"
