Will my 9860 work Windows Vista?
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/win...ahardware.mspx
I think yes, but am open to more opinions. Actually, it's not so much a matter of "if" ... as I'm sure it will, but more a matter of will Windows XP work faster or will Windows Vista work "faster". My configuration is: 17" WSXGA+ "WideAngles" TFT Active Matrix screen nVidia GeForce Go 6800 module with 256MB Embedded GDDR3 memory 3.6GHz Intel Pentium® 4 560 Processor HT w/1,024k L2 Cache - 800MHz FSB Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound 2,048MB (2 SODIMMS) DDR2/533 Dual Channel Memory 80GB SATA/150 Hard Drive at 5,400 RPM RAID Disabled Combo 8X DVD+/-R/RW/CD-RW (2.4x DVD+R DL) Drive w/Softwares External USB Floppy Drive Built-in 802.11g Wireless LAN Card Smart Li-ion Battery (12 Cell) Windows XP Professional Full Range Auto Switching AC Adapter

Yes but some parts will not work yet. First thing is the Promise Controller drivers. Put the WinXP version in the root directory on the floppy. Realtek soundcard does not work. The WinXP drivers install but after reboot you get an error so no sound. After installing go to Windows Update and install all the optional drivers except for Smartlink if you had the BSOD when installing KB888111 with Realtek Drivers. Vista appears to have KB888111 built in.

hmmmm
I accidently had the great "privilege" and "luck" to install the newest beta onto my D900T, and all I can say is that I´m sorry for the time I spent. This thing simply is not fitted for D900T yet, forget it. Everything is so slow and buggy it is a pain. We will see when Vista will be released and then we can judge. It lasted about 8 hours for me until I could start do something with this OS. There had been many reboots before and each one was so unbelievable slow. It was a pure horror show. |

Vista will probably work with the 9860 -- in time... Apparently however, Dear Sager,Sager does not have plans to release drivers for the 9860. This is a [partially edited] email that I sent to Sager about an hour ago... along with an [automated?] response just a few minutes after (see below). ************************************************************** I plan to install Windows Vista Ultimate on my Sager NP9860 but noticed that your support site does not offer any drivers for this operating system. Do you have plans to release Windows Vista Drivers for the NP9860 / D900T notebook? If so, when will they be available? Also, will Vista install properly on the NP9860 notebook (using the built in Vista drivers)? Sager's reply.... Subject: Windows Vista Drivers for NP9860? (Case:8345) Sorry, NO Vista Drivers and NOT Planning to have Vista Drivers for model:NP9860.
