Dell 700m + Pioneer DVR-K17 Drive Compatibility

Does anyone know if the Pioneer DVR-K17 Drive is compatible with the 700m?

I know the K16 would work with dell's mounting hardware, someone had just mentiond that it won't work without a proper Dell FIRMWARE. I have more experience with desktop systems so just need some confirmation with this notebook... shouldn't XP's drivers just recognize the drive regardless of firmware? Thanks!

Here's a link on Pioneer's website: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310070061_428118021,00.html

A Pioneer Slot-load drive I have worked fine in my friends Inspiron 6000 without an issue, and before that the drive worked perfectly in my Inspiron 8200. I don't think you'll have a problem.

Thanks! I figured as much, just wanted a second opinion. I'll post my results once the drives in.
