Hello,

Does the Duo Core proccessors family support 64 bit operating systems?
In my case, I have Duo Core T2300, and I wanna know if I can install on it Windows Vista 64 bit.

Yes, you can. However, make sure that there are 64-bit drivers for everything inside the computer and for the devices you will be connecting to it (scanners, cameras, printers, TV tuners, firewire devices, etc.) as otherwise they may not work.

Although Windows Vista 64-bit can run Windows 32-bit applications without problems Vista 64 REQUIRES 64-bit drivers for internal and external devices to work, 32-bit drivers will NOT work on Windows Vista 64.

64-bit drivers are released at the discretion of hardware manufacturers.

Great.
Drivers and application won't be a problem.
I want to know this thing in general whether the Duo Core CPUs support 64Bit.
Because I'm gonna need it for my work (Testing some stuff on 64Bit) for future purpses, I wanted to save some money. (instead of buying Core 2 Duo)

Yes, these processors support Windows Vista 64-bit.

You can't install a 64bit OS on a CoreDuo, only on a Core2 Duo.

I was thinking of the Core2Duo.

BAD MOIDOCK, BAD MOIDOCK!!!!! *bangs head against keyboard*

The Core Duos do not have 64-bit extensions (lack EMT 64), depending on the chipset you will be able to upgrade the CPU to a Core 2 Duo, for example, on various systems (the Alienware m5500 comes to mind) you could upgrade the core duo processor to a core2duo since they use the same socket (socket M).

You only needed a BIOS upgrade. Check with your mobile computer manufacturer to see if they offer this upgrade.

Sorry, my bad on the core duo thing. I'll take my n00b spanking now.
