FS: Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop w/ 7800GTX, 2.4GHz P-M, Cooling Dock, Backpack
SOLD
Mods, please lock at your convenience. Custom Dell Inspiron 9300 and Cooling Dock- I've owned this laptop for over a year and a half and no longer have a need for a laptop. Here's a great chance to pick up a cheap LAN/Gaming laptop and benefit from my long hours of modding .Specs are: 2.4GHz P-M - Intel never made a 2.4GHz chip, this is a pin-modded 1.8GHz -> 2.4GHz. It has run folding at home 24/7 since I put it in over a year ago and has worked flawlessly. The CPU was installed with Arctic Silver 5 for extra cooling capacity. 7800GTX - The BIOS is unlocked and allows overclocking via the nVidia control panel (no flashing necessary). The card has been copper shimmed and also has had AS5 applied to increase the heatsink's efficiency. Also, I have created copper heatsinks similar to those found on Seasonic PSUs to help cool the RAM. This card and the processor together made this laptop the fastest on Futuremark's ORB for a bit last year (3DMark05 score of 8433) Battery - 9-Cell 80WHr from Dell, works with the 7800GTX well and still has a good charge. I tested it last night, with add-on cards disabled and the screen on the lowest brightness, I was just getting over 3 hours of life; with brightness on maximum and the wireless card running, surfing the net I was getting about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The battery has rarely been used as >99% of the laptop's life it has been sitting on my desk (hence why I'm selling it). 2GB RAM - Transcend DDR2-4200 SO-DIMM RAM, 2x1GB sticks Hitachi 7K60 HDD - 60GB, 7200RPM, IDE, quick and great for gaming 17" LCD - Samsung 17" 1440x900, NO DEAD PIXELS. I really love this screen, it's probably what's killing me about selling this laptop just because I know what a gamble it is to get a good screen from Dell. I chose the lower resolution because it's great for gaming, all games run at top settings at 1440x900 and the native resolution keeps them sharp and crisp. NEC Dual Layer 8x DVD-RW - This is aftermarket, bought from newegg.com. The faceplate that came with the burner was too small and didn't sit flush with the laptop, so I put the original Dell faceplate for the DVD/CD-RW burner that came with the laptop on the drive. You can see this in the pictures, but rest assured it is a DVD burner. Atheros a/b/g Wireless - Installed over the standard intel wireless because I use a in my house. This laptop also has the XPS Gen 2 A05 BIOS on it so the 7800GTX works correctly and it comes with the 135W power brick (as opposed to the standard 90W). Everything else is standard on the laptop, connections include 6xUSB, 10/100Mbps Ethernet, 56K modem, Audio Out, Mic In, 1394, SD card slot, PCMCIA slot (uninstalled, but still comes as a part, see below), S-Video, VGA-Out, DVI-Out (see pics). Here's a link to the 9300 documents on Dell's site that shows these parts - http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...0/en/index.htm Warranty - The laptop has Mail-in-Service warranty until Mid-July 2008. Call up Dell and request any replacement part and it will be sent to you, free of charge, as long as you send the old part back. I can transfer ownership and the warranty to whoever buys the laptop. And of course, the pics - ![]() ![]() ![]() The laptop, sides, and underside ![]() ![]() These two show the inside of the laptop as well as the heatsinks on the videocard's RAM ![]() ![]() I always like to be upfront and honest, these two pictures show the cosmetic flaws I can find with the laptop. The first is some scratches on the left corner of the laptop and the second is the dulling of the paint on the left palm rest. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are some pictures of the cooling dock. It is constructed of 1/8" aluminum and the back is PVC. The fans are quiet Evercool 80x80x15mm 5V fans. I have wired them to run off USB power so an wall adapter/other power source is not needed . You can also see why I took out the PCMCIA slot, as the right fan blows in through the slot, cooling the hard drive and the RAM sinks on the video card. The other fan cools the CPU area and both fans create a cyclone effect underneath the laptop, really cooling the underside (especially the RAM).![]() I'll also be including all the Dell software ordered with this laptop, including Windows XP Home and Dell drivers and applications CDs. Also included is a spare screw I ordered from Dell as well as the PCMCIA slot and its screws. The RAM included is a 256MB stick that originally came with the laptop, it's in the Transcend's packaging for protection. ![]() Backpack - The backpack is a Kensington Contour Backpack. It has a front space, middle space with many pouches, a large back space with a padded laptop holder, and large side pouches. It has fully-adjustable lumbar support and is very comfortable. See the Kensington site for my info - http://us.kensington.com/html/4727.html . For all of the above I'm asking $1100 + shipping (~$25), but please feel free to shoot me an offer to consider. I'm selling this laptop as is, I'm not guaranteeing any overclock or benchmark score: YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY. I take extremely good care of my property and this laptop is no exception. I recommend that the purchaser be at least able to open and clean out the laptop. I am not offering any form of refund due to fraud and scammers. I will ship the laptop in the backpack and pad it and all accessories extensively. I recommend that you buy insurance with the shipping cost (it isn't expensive at all). If you have any questions at all, or requests for pictures or more information, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK. PM or e-mail and I will try my best to get you what you want. For feedback, my Heatware is under Mr. K6 and I also have eBay feedback. Cheers and thanks for looking -Mr. K6
