For some people, yes.
I'm no medical expert, but there's some people that experience dizziness and vertigo while playing certain games. First person shooters seem to exacerbate the problem. Do yourself a favor and never try to play Battletech: Firestorm, unless you want to puke in an enclosed pod. ![]()

I've had the same issue with one or two games. I played Doom/Doom II and Quake without issue, but Duke Nukem made me motion sick every time. Jedi Knight
ark Forces II had the same effect on me. The new games - FEAR and Doom 3 and Quake IV, don't give me any trouble.

Me and a couple of friends decided to have a Nintendo 64 session last night, we played Mario Kart for about an hour, i was fine, we played Bond 007 for a few minutes wich wasn't enough time to affect me and then we immediately switched to Perfect Dark. We played for a good hour and a half and i had to stop because i was seriously going to vomit. good thing we didn't try Turok lol.

Try this: Go to the drug store and buy a scopalamine patch (used for seasickness.) Try it out and see if that helps. Of course, this all depends on how badly you want to play.
Your friendly neighborhood doc.

I find state of mind is important and this includes people who vomit in planes. Now I'm not saying that motion sickness doesn't exist, but I'm saying that if you rest more, like Sleep,Nap, or just rest your mind and head and eyes, you'll be better suited.
I found that I needed alot of Rest before I got on my Plane trips, and I know that sounds weird because you're like "You Should Sleep On the Plane" But let me tell for me at least, if I'm restless I'm not going to get a wink on the plane flight as I won't get into that Trance. And just vomit or something later on. So.... Play your games in doses, but if you're physically tired you should really just go rest, instead of playing that game for an additional hour. Or trying making subtle Changes to your Enviroment when you're playing your games, meaning change up the music you're listening to in the background, You'd be amazed what that can do. |

Zen, Loki... when it comes to motion sickness, it doesn't matter how much rest you have, or what any patch you wear, if your eyes cannot process it quick enough, it's going to make you feel overwhelmed.
I had this issue with FarCry and FEAR, so much in fact I was crushed that I couldn't play neither of these awesome games. My solution? Glasses. Your local Wal-Mart or drug store has glasses for this sort of thing, staring at a computer screen all day long and such. I don't truly know the science behind it, but the glasses I'm wearing don't increase anything that I'm looking at, clarity, color, size, etc. I'm sure rest helps, but even I've been well rested and tried to FPS game, no good. It seems to only affect me on 'prettier' games, but HL2 didn't give me any problems.... hmm. Well, just a suggestion. Everyone's different. Good luck with that. |

Make sure your setting arent too high for your computer. When I first played Half Life 2 the setting were a little too high and I was getting maybe 20 - 25 fps and it caused me to get motion sickness. When I turned down the graphics a bit I felt much better.

haha, the only time I feel sick playing a game is in the car, never had the problem elsewise. That's funny it happens to you guys with specific games, I wonder why.

BF2 isn't nearly as bad as BF2142, 2142 has view bob which has the ENTIRE screen bob up and down as you walk or run. I immediately turned that crap off it was giving me a headache.
If you want a natural remedy for motion sickness, Mythbusters had good results with raw ginger. There are also tablets made with Ginger extract if you can't stand the taste. It's better than other motion sickness remedies because alot of them are just sedatives (dramamine) and make you groggy. Ginger doesn't have that side-effect.

I tended to have some motion sickness while playing FPS games here and there but it now seems to be gone.
I sometimes get motion sickness when playing FPS games REALLY late at night with very little sleep. Try motion sickness remedies but don't get hooked on to them. |
