touchpad movement works in reverse after standby

anyone run into issues where after resuming from standby, the touchpad will operate in revers motions (i.e.: you move finger down to go up, left to go right)

works fine after reboot. tried reloading driver from sony site still does same thing...

I have the same issue as well. I own a Sony SZ series laptop.

Even the additional functions (i.e scroll etc etc.) are reversed.

Hi, I am having the same problem. The pointer moves opposite to the desired direction. My VAIO is model VGN-SZ381P. Rebooting does not help any more, and most of the time I have a reversed pointer. Once it corrected itself spontaneously in the middle of the session, but by the next boot up, it was again hit and miss. Any help will be appreciated.

I have a sz470 same problem. It even works in reverse after reboot now. Has anyone had success in resolving?

Same problem here- VGN-SZ120P. I've had it sent back to Sony, it worked for a while, and now it's back to broken. Maybe someone here will get some use form this other source. None of it worked for my particular machine, however.

as an update I was able to get my sony viao sz470's touch pad working again by removing/uninstalling about the last 5 months of windows updates - including the security updates. I will reinstall them one by one to try to determine one actually causes the problem. But for an imediate fix this worked.

ps. I have windows vista business.

scratch that last post - removing all the updates made it work for a short time but then we're back to square one.

same problem

I called sony tech support last week - they were completely unaware of the problem.

they suggested i do a recovery back a few weeks when it was working correctly. But it looks like Ericw1165 already has done so, and still did not fix.

I have a vaio sz370P, and have tried just about everything to fix it but no go.

Found apparent fix

Spoke to Sony support today. They said that the problems is being caused by a faulty touchpad that needs to be replaced. (hardware)

The guy i spoke with seemed real familiar with the problem and said it was some kind of engineering quirk with the touchpad. Because its under warranty they will replace it free.

When u call Sony ask to speak to second level support.

Hope that helps

Yep, this happened to mine too. On a PCG-FR130

Only, after messing about with it for a few months, it stopped working altogether.

I replaced it with a USB mouse pad, I had to rewire and solder to the USB leads on the mobo.

Its not the best way to do it, but it works.

did finally break down and called sony - about 40min of replacing drivers and got to 2nd level support - they agreed was hardware problem. Paid the $145 for tech to come to the house and replace 3 pieces... mouse pad, fingerprint sensor, and board underneath.

It's been a little over a week now and all is working great. I can suspend, hibernate, and use a usb mouse (if I want). So far every time I start back up (out of hibernation, or suspend) it all works fine.

Hope this helps - and hope mine continues to work

I've heard a lot that replacement touchpads don't exactly solve the problem...which begs the question: is the replacement a FIXED version, or just another faulty touchpad?

I'm not keen on wasting money on tech (OR sending in my notebook for free, but waiting a month to get it back) if it's not going to help at all.
