Angry 5760 No longer starts up

Ok, just sent an email off to Sager but was wondering if anyone here can help or has had the same issue.

I went to turn on my 6 week old 5760 which up till now has been running great and got pretty much nothing trying to start it up. The hard drive light comes on briefly (not flashing though that I noticed), the screen stays completely black/blank and all I have on the lcd read out is the battery charge, plug, and the star(right hand corner) indicators. The time never shows up. Doing an FN+F2 does not turn on the fans and overall it looks like its dead.

I have the 3 year warranty so will see what Sager has to say, so at least it won't join the paper weight that is my old 9860 anytime soon. I am just trying to remain calm as I have a software project release tomorrow so this is a bit of an inconvenience, any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

Try reseating your hard drive.

If not all of the hard drive screws are in properly, the hard drive can easily jiggle enough to lose contact with the quick release SATA setup that comes with these computers.

If that doesn't work, try removing one of the sticks of RAM and boot (not sure why this works but it worked once for me on a Sager 9750). Try booting with just one or the other. It's always nice to have that warranty feeling though ; )

Same exact probleme I have, check the thread out here; http://www.notebookforums.com/thread201583.html

Very very strange indeed. It seems that we both purchased almost the same time, I recieved mine 5 weeks ago, and after about 3 weeks it just stopped booting. I thought it was just a random problem having to do with the voltage since I was in europe when I used it but seems you have the same probleme I do. I now suspect it is either a faulty hard drive or a fried motherboard. But the only difference I see is that my time does show, and I still can control the fan but like yours, I have a blank screen and the HDD indicator stops flashing after a few seconds.

I'm having a similar problem but have found out some more information that may help you, but could just be what is going wrong with my 5760.

I get random shutdowns as if the laptop was overheating whenever i do not FN-F2 to turn fans all the way up, even when the laptop is idle. The shutdowns happen <40C so it is not a heating issue (Monitored through speedfan). After a "random shutdown" the laptop refuses to boot until i remove the battery and put it back in, then it posts and i am able to FN-F2 the fans once the windows load screen appears. As long as the fans are running full boar the laptop will not shut itself down. The strange thing is even if the entire laptop has been off for over 8 hours and i had not removed the battery since a random shutdown it will still refuse to boot with temps <20C.

I have emailed about this issue and have not received any word and plan to call tonight to get some more answers.

I own a Sager 5720 and I have the same EXACT problem!!! I think my warranty is just about to expire in April as well.

Also off topic but I have been inactive from the forums for some months and suddenly they cant find my username on the forums or email address... Whatever

In any case as explained above my laptop will be just fine. I might shut it off or restart it. What happens then is that the laptop seems to turn on. The battery icon, plugged in icon, star, and harddrive all light up. The time that is supposed to come on the LCD might quickly flash or not at all and thats it. Nothing comes up on screen. I can leave it on like this for however long I want and nothing happens.

We seriously need to get an official word on this issue because it's not an isolated incident.

I got my 5720 from pctorque.
