Have you tried uninstalling the audio drivers & reinstalling them?

Which A6000 model do you have?
I ask because there are 23 different models showing on the Asus sight & I'm not sure if the drivers are any different for any of them.

OK, from the Asus sight...

WinXP
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/..._XP_060220.zip
Win Vista 32bit
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/...a32_070313.zip

& these are the latest Realtek HD Audio Codecs from Realtek.
Win XP 32 & 64bit.
ftp://202.65.194.212/pc/audio/WDM_R185.zip
Win Vista 32 & 64bit.
ftp://152.104.238.19/pc/audio/Vista_R185.zip

I would deffinitly try the official Asus drivers first to see if that will bring you back your sound but if not, I have found when I was playing with Win XP Pro X64 that the Realtek HD codec made my sound work flawlessly on my Sager 9860 when all other chanels were attempted.

I hope this helps..
