Quake 4 loading times

Hey, i have a 1705 w. 2gb ram, t7400 and 7900gs. Quake 4 takes about 3 minutes to boot up and when i try to load a saved game, it pauses and no progress continues. So i have to exit out. I have gotten this thing to run after about a 1/2 hour load time. Im wondering what the heck is up w/ this. I dont run antivirus. I did at one point have zonealarm, could there still be some left over zonealarm files thats giving me the trouble???

i had this happen too with my m90.. make sure you have the patch installed, its quite large 234mg. if that doesnt work you have to uninstall it and reinstall the game.. i dont know what causes the hang or slow loading but i remember i had to uninstall the game and reload it, install the patch and then it worked fine.. hope it helps..
