I have a 5760 computer.
My question is why is there a 2GB ram limitation on my computer?
Is it because of windows XP? or is it because of the hardware?

Might want to shoot a quick email to Sager Tech Support- they might be able to answer you more quickly if someone here doesn't have the answer.

My understanding is that the limitation is inherited from the motherboard and chipset being utilized for this production model. This, if true, would place the limitation squarely on Intel. That being said with the system fully optimized and tweaked and with RAM maxed at 2 Gigs of the 633 RAM this sytem is a screamer for a stock lightweight desktop replacement notebook.

Another one of my posts that got deleted....I think you should check with Sager on that as a misprint

Clevo says the max ram is 4gb (recognizing the windows xp limitation of 4gb max including page file)

I am currently running 3Gb of ram in my Sager 5760. 2Gb x 1Gb DDR2 667.

XP (and the Intel northbridge on the Sager 5760) has a max address space of 4Gb. This INCLUDES video memory and other peripheral(pci) card's memory. So with a Go 79X0 GTX, the max physical ram available to Windows is somewhere around 3.25Gb from what I've read. (512 for video 256 from other various onboard devices?).

What is nice about the Core2 architecture is that I am still running dual channel with 2 x 1 thanks to flex memory.

If oyu installed 4GB it will boot but you will find that it is not recognizing more than around 3.25 GB as stated in the above post higher up in this thread. The chipset limitations tie it down to a max of 4GB but that includes other memory in other internal devices such as that on your internal dedicated graphics module. Have a nice day!
