You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

HP DV6885SE Laptop Review

I honestly did not want to spend $1000 on my next laptop, but when I saw it I couldn't get away from it. The looks is what got me at first. It's the best looking laptop I've seen, but I'm a little prejudice now. But after looking at the specs. I was really hooked. Even though I'm not a gamer, the dedicated graphics and 3 GB of memory made me feel more comfortable about moving to Vista after all of the bad stuff I've heard about it. I'm actually getting used to Vista after many tweaks, but I'm still tweaking. I haven't actually tested the battery life yet, but I'm hoping to get more than the 2-3 hrs. I got from my 6 cell Gateway. The 12 cell battery does stick out under the laptop, but it doesn't bother me. I'll update on the battery life when I have some data. I don't run many demanding apps., but MS Office 2007 and basic apps. run fine for me. The webcam is cool (it's my first) and the audio is just OK.

The biggest pain was having to create my own recovery discs as it didn't come with a Vista disc. This took at least an hour of my time. The wireless N card gave me my excuse to get an N router, and I'm extremely happy with that. The range is much better, the speed over my network is better, and best of all, a running microwave no longer knocks my web connection out.
