I'm not sure why the RAM says what it says but more RAM will help you significantly.

Most people consider 1GB an absolute minimum to run Vista despite Microsoft's claim of 512MB. Vista is very memory sensitive and will use all the RAM you throw at it. If you can squeeze 2GB it would be even better.
