XPS m1730 video card problems... uh oh :(

Both m8800gtx have an error code 43 in hardware device manager (vista32).
Well, here is what is going on. I have an m1730 that has been working A1 since I got until yesterday when I installed CoD:WaW.
It might be just a coincidence though because the game was playing good for a while until I got kicked out of the game and when I tried to launch the game again it said I had a DirectX corruption. So I took a look at directx diag and saw no problem, except for video card info showed nothing!
This is where I decided to look in hardware manager and saw the dreaded exclamation point (error 43) for both my cards.
I did a full video driver uninstall, then did a driversweeper and took out all nvidia stuff and tried to install my drivers again and still get the same error!
Are my video cards messed up? I will be attempting a clean install on another spare drive today to see if it really a driver/software conflict.

if it is infact a hardware fault, man that sucks if you are out of warranty! i suspect it is a software fault though, the re installation on a spare drive is always my first choice so post your results afterwords. i hope it is a simple fix!

Well, it seems to be a hardware failure!
I've just finished re-installing Vista32 Ultimate and all related drivers and the two m8800gtx appear with (!) and code 43 in hardware menu.
I still have warranty (3 years total) so I should be okay. I wonder what Dell will ask me to do when I call them up!
I guess I'll do that right now and see

I just ran gpuz and it show both video cards but sli disabled.
When I choose card #2 it comes up with odd info so I'm guessing one of the cards has failed!
Now, time to call Dell.

I would expect card #2 to show up weird if sli was disabled but thats just me. I don't have SLI or use GPU-Z frequently; I'm just giving my perspective.

Tried getting video card drives from a source other than Dell?

Mind you the 1730 doesn't have seperate video cards. You have a single graphics card with two GPUs on it. SLI with two seperate cards only works on nvidia chipsets. On Laptops with SLI video cards, it's a single board with all the SLI compositing on the video card.

Well, lets put it this way, after 70 minutes on the phone Dell did all they could remotely so now they will be sending me a tech tomorrow to change the video card.

I had mine changed once.

Just make sure to ask for spare parts such as media pad incase the tech breaks/warps yours.
