SuperKungFu is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
There is a free video editing software that comes with every windows OS, It's the windows Media Movie Maker. Although it is easy to use, I recommend a payware software due to its functions.

There has been much debate on which is the "best" video editing software and both are pretty costly: I narrow it down between Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier. I use Sony Vegas, I tried Adobe Premier on my brother's computer but it seemed a bit complex for my taste (that and I also didn't really give it a chance) but if you want to see the functions before you make your purchase, you can go to youtube and type in Sony Vegas tutorials or Adobe Premier tutorials and see the layout and functions of it.
