I have got exactly the same issue! So I found the CMOS battery cable,, but I can't get it unconnected. I'm not gonna risk my warranty by trying to disconnect it.

Instead I re-installed windows (alt + F10 recovery) & flashed my bios up to 3813, but the problem remains.. I'd say to reset my keyboard settings but I don't even know if such a thing exists.

... (?)

that sounds reasonable. time to contact acer and they can fix it, or take it to someone who can repair it for you. I would try a local place and find a tech that has experience. Show the tech the cable and let them know this will fix it.

EDIT: Also runned chkdsk on my hard drive as suggested in that post, no succes.

Yes I did. I unplugged the cable and I actually saw the 2 pins you mentioned in the other thread, I waited for about 3 mins, plugged it in and booted laptop. When I logged in I noticed the time was set to 0:00 and the date was set to the date on which windows was first configured on my laptop. Is this normal behaviour after unplugging the CMOS?

I've been to my tech today and he thinks it's the keyboard connection that's partially broken, he gave me a keyboard (USB) till it's fixed. Anyway, if it's not solved after my exams (25 june) I'll let Acer pick it up & repair it. That's why I cannot send my comp in right now.

Thanks for your help anyway & I'll keep trying to fix it with the things you shoot at me
