Samsung R70 Hard Drives - Question

Hi. This isn't really a problem but I was just wondering. Also, I hope this was the right forum, I spent a while looking and I think it is, if not, could a moderator please move it? Thankyou.

So, my brother got a laptop today and it's around 110GB or something. I looked at mine and my C: drive is only 24.9GB... his cost £400, mine was around £1000.

So I was wondering where the heck it had all gone, but saw something next to it, TEMP_PART01 (D.

Now, to be honest I don't have a clue what this is, how to work it or anything. I read up on a Wikipedia article but it's a bit too confusing.

Therefore i'm asking you guys, could you explain this D:/ to me and is it something like a split of my C:/ or..?

Here is a picture:

Thankyou very much.

So is there a way to get them both back into one?

Actually all I want to do is transfer a bit of the space from D: to C: .. is there not a way to do that simply? I don't see why, if i partitioned, it gave the D: like 4x as much space as C:

You can try using Vista Disk Management for this. First "shrinking" D:, then expanding C:

Give it a shot and see if it works. If not, a 3rd party app like GPart Live CD would help.

I recommend that you defrag both drive first.

And back-up, back-up ...

cheers ...

With Vista Disk Management I managed to shrink D:/ but it won't let me expand C:/ ... Also I don't know how to work .iso files when I tried GPart Live CD

I kinda expected that, since you can only expand to the available space right by it, under Vista that is.

For GPart, you download the ISO file and burn it to a CD. After that you can boot from the CD and just follow instruction. GPart has good manual online that you an follow.

cheers ...
