Power jack modification. Works for Satellite L300, L305, L350, L355.

If you have one of the following laptops: Toshiba Satellite/Satelite Pro L300, L305/L305D, L350, L355/L355D you have a really good chance that your power jack will get broken soon.

The problem is that the base assembly might get broken too.

Instead of replacing the base assembly and power jack harness, you can install a more robust power jack from RadioShack.

1. Find a new power jack matching your AC adapter. For most Toshiba laptops using a 19V power adapter you can use the power jack from RadioShack with part number: 274-1576.

2. Disassemble the laptop and prepair the base for the repair. Before you do any modifications to the laptop base, make sure the new jack fits into the laptop and you have enough space for it.

3. Mount a new power jack and solder it to the original power harness.

WARNIG! Before you apply power to the motherboard, check if wires are soldered correctly. The polarity is very important. I always check polarity with a voltmeter even if I'm 100% that it's right.

4. Assemble the laptop. You are done! The power issue is fixed for about $3.

You'll find more detailed info in this article: How to repair damaged power jack in Toshiba Satellite L305 and L355 laptops

Thank you Steve.

I'm pretty sure that this jack modification will help a of of people.
I believe this will work for many other Toshiba laptops.

By the way, if your laptop is still under warranty, try contacting the authorized repair center first. MOST LIKELY they will fix it at no charge. In not, I guess you can do it yourself.

If this mode works for you, please mention your laptop model in this thread. This will help other people.

Nope, I don't work for Toshiba. I think Toshiba wouldn't appreciate my jack modification.
But I'm fixing a LOT of Toshiba laptops.
