Samsung Drivers and MagicTune DAMAGE internal laptop's LCD screens

Bought Samsung 2253BW 22" LCD Monitor

Plugged the monitor into my laptop DELL Inspiron 6400

Installed the samsung monitor drivers and Magictune ask to reboot

LCD on my laptop went blank (back light is on, no picture displaying)

Incompatible Video Controller at Diagnostics

Native resolution 0 by 0 at bios

Unistall everything samsung magictune drivers and software, uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers. Tried booting in safe mode and doing all of previous said steps.

The laptop does not even display a picture when booting up (BIOS, Post, Windows Loading Screen, etc.) in the internal lcd screen only on external samsum lcd monitor.

Tried switching from CRT/LCD multiple times with the new monitor connected and disconnected.

I think it was a casuallity and I already change the inverter NO FIX at all

I dont want to replace the full LCD display from Dell as support say, I want to Sansumg pay for it IF YOU HAVE A SIMILAR PROLEMB PLEASE POST HERE, It doensn't matter if you already fix the problem by replace your LCD from Dell or by yourself.

Please Join here and ask for a real solution from samsung.

Regards.

Same thing from my recent experience ...

Bought a Samsung SyncMaster 971p as a second monitor to my Latitude D820 .. Worked just great for months _without_ installing driver or utilities.

Nothing to do one day so decided to load driver and Samsung utilities. On reboot, same symptoms as mppulido .. When I rebooted I have no function at all from laptop LCD display. Tried uninstall to the Magic Tune utility .. It didn't, looked at everything in registry .. some strange values but not enough experience to tell what has happened. Tried looking at the bios but with only the external monitor working, only shows line after line of blue / purple hearts (is this s sick joke from Pheonix !) .. Lcd is dead in the water and Samsung do not seem to have a support catagory for software / drivers etc. So, I'm with you mppulido .. how do we go about telling Samsung / other users about this ??

Write me if you're either still frustrated or have found a fix !!

Cheers,
Peter.

I had the same problem! I have dell inspiron 6400 and I just bought a Samsung 2493HM LCD monitor. After installing magic tune program of samsung, my laptop didnt reboot and threw a blue screen. After that, I had to reboot it in safe mood and removed the magic tune and magic rotation programs. There is a conflict with those programs and ATI graphic card drivers. I have ATI Mobility X 1400 256Mb card. Unfortunatelly, we can not update our ATI driver from ATI website since Dell uses a customized version of this driver. In this case, Dell is supposed to release update but they dont. But still it is mainly samsungs fault, they gotta solve it! Is there any one who seeks a solution from samsung?

Wow!!! Samsung utilities always crashes my desktop... Blue screen, IRQ conflicts, etc. I have a 931BW and I am glad to hear you guys warning us. I will remember to never use Samsung applications on my laptop.

Thanks a lot and good luck!

I'm going to stick this thread in the Tech Support board. It's probably wise to warn other Dell users that MagicTune can cause damage to your Laptop's hardware. If anyone posts another thread on the subject, please direct them here so you all can gather in one place and possibly make a case to Samsung.

Well, I didn't have this problem, but I'm a potential user to have it (having a Dell Laptop + Samsung monitor).
Please don't ask me to test that! =P

Just found this forum whilst looking for a fix for my laptop screen. Got my Dell laptop last week. One of the first things I did was plug in my Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW to test the dual screen. Didn't notice anything strange at the time but ever since day 1 my laptop screen would randomly shut off. Put it down to a sleep/hibernate setting that I would get round to changing - pressing standby would get me back to login screen. Kept happening so changed all my power/sleep/hibernate etc settings. Continued to happen, sometimes within 5 mins of being turned on, sometimes hours, programs running or not. Plugged in the same samsung to see if external monitor goes off when laptop does. After about an hour, laptop screen goes bye bye, external works fine.

Laptop sometimes comes back on by itself. Nvidia control panel has 2 monitors to choose from when both are working but the internal monitor isn't there when the problem kicks in. After awhile the internal screen will become selectable again in Nvidia control panel and then I can go dual screen again or laptop only????

My problem doesn't sound exactly the same because my screen isn't dead. Maybe it's because I didn't install the MagicTune software????

I've just emailed the company I bought it from, hope they fix it soon. Has anybody dared to try a Samsung monitor after having the screen fixed? I really want to use my monitor with this laptop.......with both screens working.

Oh no... I have the same problem too. 9300w/6800go won't detect internal monitor. I have a 2232BW and also have the magic tune software installed. It has worked flawlessly for a few months until now...

Hi all,
Iīve the same problem and I tryed everything to repair it. I format my computer and install the windows again but it didnīt work, then I flashed the bios of my computer and didnīt work either. Now I gave my computer to a professional notebook repair shop and they just gave me the diagnose today that thereīs a hardware problem in the main board, they said me that they already saw one guy here with the same problem after installing Magic Tune. I found in internet a lot of people in forums with the same problem and with no solution. Itīs a problem that I could never wait after buying a new monitor, I paid for something that destroyed my computer.
I wrote to Samsung about this and Iīm waiting for an answer. Does anyone here ever received a feedback from them?

I cannot BELIEVE there are other people with this problem!! Hooked up a brand new Samsung 2253BW to my Dell E1705 laptop today, installed MagicTune, and my laptop display was gone within an hour or so. Same problem as mppulido.. backlight is still on on laptop lcd, but my only source of video is with my external Samsung 2253BW.

Ran Dell Diagnostics and got "Incompatible Video Controller" "Vesa function 0x4f02 returned AX = 14f". From what I've read online, this usually is solved by replacing the video card, which in my case is integrated with my mother board.

If this is really happening to this many people, there is a problem with Samsung's software, that it's damaging the laptop hardware. And I agree, they should be paying for the repairs!

What, if anything, has anyone been able to do toward solving this problem? We need to stay on top of this...

Hello all,

Contacted Samsung and got to one supervisor above tech support assistant, and was referred to an address to the president. For those interested in the address, it is:

samsung electronics usa
c/o office of president
400 valley rd. suite 201
mount arlington, nj 07856

Needless to say, this is not an adequate response from Samsung. It's clearly their fault. This is what I am proposing, so please read this carefully. There are enough documented cases of this problem occurring where there may be some grounds for legal action against Samsung. I am very interested in pursuing some form of legal compensation, maybe in the form of a Class Action Lawsuit. What I need, of course, are cases other than mine of this occuring. For anyone that is having this issue, please contact me at mrpowell3 :at: gmail.com to let me know you are having it. With enough people, maybe as little as 10, there is ground to pursue legal action against Samsung. This should not cost any money from anyone, though I'll admit I've never pursued legal action before.

People, this is an issue that has been throroughly documented and needs to be addressed in places other than online forums. Please, if you have had this happen, send me an e-mail at the address above so that I can begin to form a list of cases in the event of legal action.

I don't want to, but I wholeheartedly believe that in this case it is necessary.
