Sager NP9890 XP reinstall woes ... Awesome, we're glad it worked out!

Sorry it took so long us to get back on this but I was consulting with a co-worker on this:

You need an ATA driver floppy diskette and USB floppy drive (must be TEAC or YEDATA brand, other brands have compatibility issues) in order to recognize the hard disk before setup XP.

Thanks for the help - I did exactly as PC Torque suggested and got lucky when a co-worker just happened to have a TEAC USB floppy drive that I borrowed.

After that it was a breeze to reformat the harddrive and install XP. Hopefully I wont have to do this again, but at least my laptop is working as good as new
