T43

Does anyone know how to remove the x300 radeon gpu from the main board ? it appears to be a push in chip but is glued to the main board . I need to replace the gpu as mine appears to have failed.
Thanks in advance

You may want to look around for a glue softener.

correct me if im wrong but i believe its soldered onto the board.
I asked a IBM service professional and he said unlike processors, most laptop graphics card cannot be removed or upgraded.

I know there's a few peoples over on ThinkPads.com who reflow the board to fix the chip. It might be worth it to post over there to see if anyone can do it. It usually costs around $150.

We have many members playing and working with "reflow" also :-) and share instruction steps and tips. Not always working if one hits a bad gpu.

cheers ...
