Acer Laptop

Guy at my job posted an ad for his Acer laptop and he said he bought it January 2009 for $1600 and is selling it for $800 but I said its only worth about $260. I also said he was retarded and got ripped off and he wont listen. What do you think its worth. Here's the specs from his P.O.S. ad.

Intel-Core Processor 2.0 Ghz
1gb of ddr2 ram
120gb hard drive
802.11 a b g wlan
All cds included
upto 252mb mobile Intel graphics media accelerator.

I don't know the screen size or model number/type

laptopmobo is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
do not buy - there trying to rip you off.

Personally I don't think it's worth buying. I buy and sell laptops wholesale everyday so I know what companies pay, where they get it and how much it could be sold for. 2 Years ago we got 100 acer aspire 15.4" laptops in retail box, full warranty and every spec is higher then what the guy's ad said. My cost was $400 and now I am thinking of just parting it out because acer's doesn't hold values and kinda suck IMO after using one. For $260 he would still be making out like a bandit because the warranty is up, acer replacement parts are so much more money then a hp notebook and for $800 you wouldn't believe the specs and laptop I could get you and $800 I get top of the line computers for.

The only thing in the acer is a laptop motherboard and display which could be sold for parts, the rest is bad and acer discontinued those spec machines. I will be more then happy to assist you in findind the right laptop and you could buy it from any vender you like... I do sell laptops and run a full time small business but as you could see, I am just giving an opinion and I don't want you to think im a salesman lol. If you were serious and wanted to buy one, I would work with you but overall don't buy the acer. Id get rid of my own personal acer for cheaper and people lie when it comes when they got it, where they got it - Just because someone say's they spent $1600 doesn't mean they have.... BTW acer never had a laptop on the market with a retail price of $1600 in any year.

I just got myself the new acer g50v gaming laptop and I love it. New, warranty, complete, specs out the waazoooo and less then $800 and still one of the top rated laptops.

Hope I got you in time before you wasted your money, but thats just my opinion and please only take it as that.

I don't want to buy it I was just wondering what its really worth. I have an AW m15x (happy with) and I know a bit about laptops but not about selling as used. I know you can buy a better acer for $600. He just keeps bugging me to find friends since I go to LAN party's and he says he'll give me $100 if I find someone who will contact him to buy it for $1000, but I tell him to F off. Also he bought it off an site called purchasing power. Its like a rent a center where you can buy something and our company takes it out of the paychecks every time. He said he did $30 x 52 weeks = $1560. Anyway He didn't even subtract the interest that purchasing power site takes out. Thanks for your reply.

Just because he got totally ripped off doesn't mean he has to give the blow to you. I would stay away from acer, I can't even get rid of mine as a parts machine on eBay and no one will pay $1000. Tell your friend that you can get a Asus gaming laptop
(same one I just got) and the specs are 2.13Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo P7450, 4GB DDR2, 320GB HD, Vista Home Premium, 15.6" Glossy Widescreen, 1.3mp built in webcam, 512MB dedicated Nvidia GeForce 9800M GS brand new, retail box, full warranty and ill just say I get them for less then $800 so i dont think you could get someone for $1000 unless you gave them $999 to take it off your hands lol - good luck though
