Got my Gateway MX7515 about a year and a half ago, and have the same problem. Started with the plastic hinge cracking, and eventually falling off, then my screen got really wobbly and flickered occasionally. Yesterday, I got a PC tool kit and immediately took the bezel off the LCD screen and, sure enough, the metal plate that is SUPPOSED to be attached by the two screws on the left hinge is broken and gone. Question is, what do I do now? I'll try calling Gateway, but for all I know, this is too old a model for them to deal with. If that doesn't work, I might try what the other fella did and just weld a new plate on. I've been looking for replacement parts online and I have no problem replacing it myself, but no luck finding one.
I'll let you guys know if I have any luck with Gateway. |
