You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

Guess the first one was DOA, but they replaced it quickly. Props to Starmicro. Overclocked it to 2.1 GHz and undervolted it a bit. Will post any battery life increase after some testing. Thanks guys!
Great stuff!

cheers ...

Psychism is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
Thanks to all who responded and e-mailed me BIOS 2.04a the included phlash16 utility failed multiple times (my last update was done via DOS boot disk) this time it first failed due to HIMEM being enabled so I ditched that and made a clean boot disk and the phlash16 utility then failed to find the BIOS update... Anyway I used WinPhlash and it went flawlessly. So future reference anyone having trouble with the BIOS update use WinPhlash it's way faster than having to make a boot disc and supports all phoenix bios.

My new ML-40 I bought on eBay for $50 was immediately recognized once the BIOS was updated and it's all working perfectly now. Aside from my BIOS resetting everytime I unplug which it was doing before the update.

As for the swap the descriptions on here of the heatsink don't match mine. Mine is an Arctic Silver looking compound with a Silver foil piece between the compound and the processor to make lifting the heatsink off for cleaning simpler... it also makes changing the compound a moot point since it only connects directly with the heatsink so there is no need or reason to scrape off and change the compound when you put a new processor in.
