Can't help with CWO, but I always go by the principle that if they don't reply within a day stuff 'em.

I got mine from M Square Solutions. Their phone number is 011 61 9280 3389. Email is sales@m2solutions.com.au. My sales guy was Pochi Hsueh.

I've used the B&M part of Capitol Computers for many bits and pieces and they have the M6n at http://www.capitolcomputer.com.au/

Cheers

VAT probably means Value Added Tax.

Where are you looking to buy from in the U.K.?

SO can you get the WSXGA+ in New Zealand? I have a friend there that could ship it.

VAT Value Added Tax, and you don't pay it if it is being sent to the US.

Thanks. I haven't picked out a place yet but i picked up a UK PC mag and it had alot of good info in it. If the import charges aren't that bad i could get a better notebook then in the states at a very decent price.

I'm in New Zealand and could ship it. Though you wouldn't want to - the WXGA retail for about $NZ3.5k here - anout $US2300 - with entry-level features.

Well it's been a week now and the lappy is performing as advertised. Battery life is good if not outsanding. I get three hours while surfing Wi-Fi and playing MP3s through my wireless airtunes system.

The screen is good. I'd like an even higher contrast ratio because at maximum brightness level the black levels aren't as good as they could be, but for movies I simply turn down the brightness a bit, which is something we should all do anyway.

I only have two gripes. The first is that when lying down with the M6 on my belly my left hand occasionally presses the quick play CD controls, but there's probably a way of shutting this down.

The second is the keyboard. While it is generally very good, the upper left hand section around the wsaq and Tab keys is noticeably noisier than the rest, like the keys are hitting the metal behind. My dealer said this was normal but I am unvinced. It hasn't bugged me enough to send it back for a fix or a new keyboard, but it may soon.

Other than that, it doesn't get warm, looks cool and has shiny blue lights.

What's not to like?

Steve

In response to couple of requests, here's a shot of the keyboard 'mod' I did. It is simply two pieces of very thin foam on the edges of the metal area underneath the keyboard. This stops the noisiness completely.

256k color max for M6NE WSXGA?

One quick question for you guys... on the Asus Australia site it says 256k color max for the 15.4" WSXGA screen. Is this a misprint? If not then do you notice this during usage?

I think I read somewhere here that this is simply Asus's way of speccing and that they are the same as everyone else's.

no this is perfectly normal. lcd's (except the SUPER freaking expensive ones) use dithering of 256k colors to make the millions that others claim to have. 90% all just have the 256 and use dithering.

Ok thanks guys, I was leaning more towards the UK version Samsung X30 HWC 745 but I think that's going to run me closer to $4000 Canadian. If they have similar screens I think the M6NE would do, the biometric scanner on the Samsung is nice but I could live without and it seems the M6NE gets better battery life, although it's heavier. Tough choice, any suggestions?

I still love my M6ne. If it had one of the new Xbrite/Brightview screens (and an ATI 9800 ) it would be perfect.
