I spilled some water on the keyboard of my 5670 about 7 hours ago. As soon as the water hit, the computer shut down immediately. I didn't attempt to turn it back on, I just dried it off as best I could and when I woke up today, it wouldn't turn on at all. I cant get any response when hitting the power-up button.

Do you guys think it's fried? If so, what might be the costs to repair it? Do you think it may just need to dry out some more?

little update:

I noticed now that last night when the water spilled, the computer actually never completely shut down. The screen just went blank. I shut down the computer completely now, and I'm wondering if I should make some attempt to dry it off by blowing fans into keyboard?

let it dry for at least 18 hours then try turning it back on

One of the best things to do for any water contamination of electrical equip is the following. Take off all battery/power supplies to prevent accidental discharge, don't power up your computer (you may inadvertently fry the mobo if water is present on it).

Most importantly dry it out.

Get some silica packets (you know, the ones found in shoe boxes, coat pockets, etc). Get a bunch. Put the lappy in a sealed plastic bag with the silica packets and leave it to dessicate for 36-48 hours. It should be fine as long as no electrical activity has occured across the mobo/vid card while wet.

That is a GREAT tip ... for water. Doesn't work for other spillage, though.

you might want to help it along with a hair dryer as well

ouch dude also contact the makers and if you under warranty beg plead and be nice and hope for mercy if it was still on when you spilled it and afterwards without you knowing something may have shorted out...
