You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

I'm one the noobs that has been lurking for a few days and finally had to register to view a few photos of different screens. lol. I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my new 8600 with ATI Mobility Radeon 9600PRO Turbo and the 15.4-in WSXGA+ screen. My 1st laptop. Thanks to my lurking here I was able to figure out that the minimun screen wasn't going to do it for me so I called Dell on Friday to have it changed. I was really glad that I was able to do this; however the clock was set back to zero and I have to hurry up and wait some more, arrggg. Any way I was wondering about the "screen leakage" issue. I see that some are having this problem and some are not. I really wanted a great multimedia machine and was wondering if Dell does anything to correct this issue if you have this problem? Also I ordered the machine with the Dell Wireless 1350 (802.11 b/g) Internal Wireless. I hav'nt gone wireless at home yet and was hoping one of the aficionados here could recommend a good router for this wireless card that is installed. (unless I can hook into one of my neighbors for free) heh.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide me.
I personally would recommend the Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I appreciate the straightfoward interface on this router for encryption and other nessecaries when switching over to wireless. You'll find that the top three recommendations you'll get will be the Netgear b/g the DLink b/g and the Linksys b/g. I personally own 1 dlink 1 netgear and 3 linksys. The linksys has been the most reliable and user friendly so far. Make sure if you go Linksys to NOT get the b/g router with speedboost as this offers nothing to systems not using an optimized linksys brand speedboost pci card. I've noticed some Pre-N routers out already but I wouldn't pay attention to those since almost nothing supports them at current, especially not our notebook wireless cards.

Heh, yeah I really don't like the Dlink at all either. It's a pain to mess with imho.

I think the C refers to it t's the 3rd model change, first came out with a track stick, 2nd came out with all the ports, the C came out without the track stick and only 1 mini din port in the back of the machine they got rid of the other ports seen on the first 2.

lol, i dont know what you are all talking about for dlink, but i have wireless dlink router, currently i am at the east side the the house, and router is at west side, passing through at least 6-10 walls AND router is very close to all the wireless stuff, like cable box, 2 wireless phones...i still get G reception, not B lol and i have tried linksis, where it switched to B and i still could not get signal! i'd say dlink rocks

I have three DLinks at different houses, and all work perfectly! I have them all set with the same SSID and WEP so i dont need separate configs when i move around. Connect to one, connected to all! I have two 624+ (b/g) and a 514 (b only), and they are all perfect for their main use of sharing broadband.
