ATi Drivers for the M10-P in the 5680

Hello;

I got my 5680 a few days ago and installed the beta drivers (instead of the WHQL drivers which were about 1 month older) off the driver CD.

The thing I am really confused about is getting new drivers. The beta drivers I installed are dated July 29th, 2003. Obviously, ATi has done a lot of improvement since then. I dont know how to get the new ones. When I go to Sager's site, the new systems arent even posted in the driver sections; when I go to ATi's site and chose to download the Catalyst drivers (selecting 'mobile'), they give me a page stating that I have to get the drivers from the manufacturer. WTF. To add to the confusion, a classmate of mine (Syndicat3) who got his 5680 at the same time as me, did not install the drivers off the CD but just went to ATi's site and downloaded the standard desktop Catalyst drivers. Was that good or bad? They seem to work fine as we played BF1942 with all the expansion packs at 1600*1200*32bit Colour and maximum settings.

I tried to find something on these forums, but just got more confused by the random posts with different opinions (including people who claim that the beta drivers gave them crap and people who tell others to install the non-WHQL, beta drivers).

Info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Mikhail

namely, ATI's Cat drivers are not built officially for mobile chips. to make them work, you have to "trick" it into installing.

Wah......can anyone explain what the blotchiness experienced by some actually is? Just bad gradients?
