Unhappy Screen brightness control?

I recently recieved my 9860 and I am totally happy with it. It is almost as fast as my desktop! I am perplexed by one small problem. The keyboard control for the brightness adjustment do not work. I also have trouble using the F10 and F11 key to enable / disable the card reader and wifi. The keys work when use as a function of an application but no dice with the advertised functions. The only option I have to adjust my screen intensity is to open the Nvidia contol panel. Has anyone experienced this, or know of a possible fix?

Make sure you have the keyboard drivers from your driver CD installed. I think it was called AP key or something..

That was one of the first things that I tried. I even went to the Sager site and downloaded their copy just to make sure that my copy wasn't bad. Thanks for the help though.

I have a problem with these, too. In fact, the lower brightness button works, but the raise brightness doesn't. So now I'm stuck with a perpetually dark screen, YAY.

If anyone knows how else to control these things, PLEASE post!

THe drivers are on your Drivers CD listed under mhotkey or ap key, some people disable this process in MSconfig. Ensure you have mhotkey.exe in your windows folder and that in msconfig you didn't disable this service from running.

It's not a problem with the software. The f9 key (and many others) literally does not work on my keyboard. Is there anyway to manually control the brightness? My eyes are having an unfun time adjusting to the utter darkness of my screen, now.

I've tried going into the ATI preferences under display options, but these seem to control a different brightness/contrast.

If anyone can help find a way to manually change the brightness that the f8 and f9 function keys control, I would be very greatful. A way to remap the key or anything.. anything to get rid of this dark screen.

Sounds like something that should be taken up with tech support. Your keyboard isn't working properly.

So there's no other way to control brightness other than the Fn keys....?

That is correct. The Fn keys are the controls.

I really didn't want to be without my computer, so instead of sending it into Sager I just used the Nvidia control panel to assign a hotkey for those functios. I use ctrl + Fn8 or Fn9 to change the screen brightness. A temp fix at best.

Mental note: Don't ever adjust the brightness on your 9860.
They should put a big warning right over the button. DO NOT USE =P
