I just got the S360 recently and the one thing I REALLY wanted to know was how well Counter Strike Source would play on it. I figure I'm not the only one that wants to know how CS Source runs on this machine so I'll post up what I got. I searched many forums and only saw one person write about CSS and his score was decent on 1024 x 768 (~44 fps)
Video Stress Test: On 800 x 600 I got 77.6 fps On 1280 x 800 (native resolution) I got ~45 fps (but the screen had alot of purple on it...strange...but this 'purple' did not show up when I played de_dust) I'm happy that CSS offers you to play it at wide screen but it is stretched wide screen (rather than being able to see more to your right and left). I guess that would let us have the advantage. Overall I am very satisfied that this runs CSS at a decent rate and and also at good graphic detail. ![]() |

No, it IS in fact in 1280x800 but it's just the stretched wide (like if you had a wide screen TV and wanted to watch a regular show that is not presented in wide screen. The ppl look fat!).
So it is most evident in the crosshair (the north / south cross hair is shorter than the east / west) |

I'm not sure if this reply is in time to catch you, but when I play CS:S on my 1280x800 notebook, I don't have any problems playing in native resolution (as opposed to stretched wide).
I'll try to grab SS's of my laptop in 1280x800 and my desktop in 1280x1024 to compare the two for relative shapes of objects... Are you sure you selected "Widescreen Modes" or something in the video settings? -Andrew |

I did select the wide screen option and chose 1280x800. It doesn't look bad at all (I know I exaggerated a bit and said people looked fat earlier because of the stretched wide screen). But I'm certain that it IS stretched because of the way the cross hair looks. The vertical pieces are shorter than the horizontal pieces.
I have a theory (tho I know it's wrong) that because the people are somewhat stretched, you have the advantage playing in widescreen bc the enemies are easier to hit. Ha! |
