Whinning noise

I know this has been discussed, so if anyone have that link to that particular thread please point me in the right direction.

I have that whinning sound near the upper-left corner on my keyboard. It sounds like it might be the processor or something because whenever I set the power throttle down the whinning disappears. However when I turn it up to full power it will start whinning again unless I use the USB pen drive or standby in/standby out tricks.

There has to be a more permanent fix for this, right? I just bought my Asus A71V. I love it, but this noise is so annoying being a musician/audiophile.

Thanks,

-Victor

i got my z71v not too long ago and the whining is annoying me as well. i too am an audiophile/musician actually and my hearing has been getting more and more sensitive to this kind of stuff.

it seems like it only happens when on battery power? when the laptop's plugged in it goes away if i recall correctly.

what are the usb and standby tricks you speak of? id really like to know how to stop this annoying noise....
