Exclamation Toshiba A215-S4697 Conversion to XP

Has anyone had any luck finding the drivers to convert this computer to XP? I looked at the Toshiba download website with no luck. A call to Tech Support told me that there would be no good reason to downgrade my computer to XP so therefore Toshiba couldn't help me. This is too bad as I have had luck with other laptop companies with this issue.

If anyone has found a way to get drivers such as the Chipset wihch is an AMD M690V it would be of great help.

Thanks, Ray

run an everest home report, then u can try go directly to the device manufacturer to chase down xp drivers.

amd 6xx chipset is quite new, unless the laptop manufacturer offers it at the moment, we r all sol until amd/ati update their download sites. amd/ati is currently bundling into its gpu catalyst driver the handling of this new chip - so an uptodate catalyst driver would do u justice

cheers ...

well, after a bunch of searching all last night and into today, I have everything installed except the ATI video drivers.

I have tried everything. Used the drivers from the ATI site, even the Omega drivers. None of them will install correctly.

Any clues here?

1)Get the "Display Driver" from here:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

2)Try to install the driver. You will get a "No compatible device found" error.

3)Go to the "Add Hardware" wizard in the Control Panel.

4)Choose to install with the "Have Disk" option.

5)Use the browse function to find the place where you originally extracted the setup files and choose the .inf.

6)Select Radeon X1200, choose install anyways and voila!

I just bought this boat anchor for my wife her 600m DNF'd. We hate Vista and Tosh was no help with the XP downgrade. Could someone put together a list of the drivers they had to hunt down? If its a big hassle then its going back to the store soon. Also how hard is it to delet Vista I have read that you can waist the hard drive in proccess...

Hi
My friend got, steps:
1- He reinstalled Windows XP;

2- Install the driver's AMD Processor, AMD Dual Core Optimizer, Agere 56K e TI Multi Card Reader from:
http://rapidshare.com/files/53484825/Toshiba_A215-S4697_XP_Drivers.zip

3 - Install Microsoft .NET Frameworks 3.0 Full and restart;

4 - To try install the pack Catalyst Software Suite 7.9 from: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca.../integrated-xp
It's impossibel install, but don't have problem, it even goes maximum step;

5- Take the files of X1200 from file of step 2 anda put in the past that you installed the Catalyst Software Suite 7.9.
6 - Go to Contrl Panel > System > Hardware > Manager Hardware and in "VGA Adapter " select "Reinstall Driver". Select the 3 option "No, No now" > Next > Select "Install form a list or specific place" > Next > Select " Don't find/search, I will choose the driver to be installed". In a new screen, select " Video Adapter" and choose "Install wich Disk" and find the file tha you put the files when you installed Catalyst Software Suite 7.9. Some archives are requested and your location is in directory of Catalyst Software Suite.

7 - Ok, installed. I hope.

Try and informs me later it work, ok?!

The best way to delete Vista is to boot up the PC with a XP disc inserted. Then choose to delete the current partition and install. I'm uploading all the missing XP drivers right now. The only driver missing is the "Toshiba Common Modules" which makes the "FN" button on the keyboard work. There's no way to get it unless Toshiba makes a XP version as it's laptop specific. I'll post as soon as the upload is done. ETA is 30 minutes.
