Using Nvidia Forceware drivers
    Driver Version: 1.5.740.18

Almost a stock A2 model. Was build on Asus reseller XOTIC PC. Instead of the top A2 config that comes with 2 x 320gb 7,200rpm HDD on raid, it has a 80GB Intel X-25M SSD as primary HDD and the 320gb 7,200rom HDD as second. The 1st HDD is dedicaded only to the OS and Applications. All other files, either user files and all temp files are on the 2nd HDD in order to keep the SSD running as clean as possible. Also comes with the Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound applied instead of the regular one. This help to cool the system temperatures. The OS is Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64bits.

This is a almost stock, a build-to-order G50vt-A2 customized at Asus reseller XOTIC PC. Below you can see the little differences. Important to say that either processor, GPU, memory, were modified. I would classified it as a stock A2 that you can buy at Amazon, for example...

I don't know why my G50vt-A2 only gets 5.4 in Vista (5.4, 5.9, 5.9, 5.8, 5.9)... and in the CPU!!! I have stock specs.

The interesting thing, in Windows 7, the CPU jumps from 5.4 to 6.2 (6.2, 6.2, 5.9, 5.8, 5.9)

I wouldn't dread on this, and just waiting for Vista SP2 to hit the updates for my Asus (and others), that is behaving like yours at the moment; low score in Vista, but higher in W7.

cheers ...

I agree. I've done tests on another note* that I have and on a desktop, with W7 beta, W7RC 7100 and also VISTA SP2 "RTM".

Besides W7 being impressive fast (I think that this is a general opinion...), the SP2 really, really impressed me.

*This other note is a 6yrs old Dell 110l, celeron, 1gb ram (333)... I only use it for these releases. I've done a dual boot Win7RC and Vista Home Basic, and sure it was almost impossible to use the Vista. And W7 ran almost as a XP when configured for performance. The thing is that when I installed the SP2 on Vista, it was almost as good as the W7.

My conclusion is to expect a much faster machine when upgrading to a "stable" SP2

And goobers, about your scores : (5.4, 5.9, 5.9, 5.8, 5.9), it is quite the same! Pretty much sure that the thermal silver paste and the SSD somehow improves the score, but it is nothing compared to these W7 numbers that u have there!

Validated. Incidentally, for future benchmarks it's easier on the folks who check the numbers with the pics (like me ) if you upload the screenshots along with the benchmark. That saves having to go back and forth between tabs to validate your scores.
