online vendors for acer ferrari 3200
Does anyone know whether ebuyer.com, niceelectornics.com, or datavisioncomputer.com, are worth doing business with to buy an Acer Ferrari? they seem to have the 3 best prices on the internet, but I'm not sure about buying from a smaller vendor like that.....any experiences, 1st or 2nd hand would be appreciated.
thanks, monologuist |

Does anyone know the exact numbers of 3200s produced? I know that there is a new ferrari digital camera with a limited run of 10000 and this is under a similar licensing agreement as the 3200.

How annoying is the fact that all of the USB slots are on the left if u have to use a wired mouse, did u try it with the supplied mouse?

We've been doing some hard drive swaps for people also to the 80GB 5400rpm hard drive and 60GB 7200rpm drive. ----Question for Adam: Is PCTorque offering HDD and RAM upgrade options then for the Ferrari? I checked with Luke McBride last wk and he said that PCTorque will only be shipping the Ferrari "as-is". If customization features are now offered on the Ferrari, how can one place an order through the website since its not enabled for such options? How about the costs of the upgrades?
Thanks. |

Dead Pixels - There is a PCTORQUE agreement is their not that there will be no dead pixels. (My Acer TM8006lmi has no dead pixels but didnt get it from pctorque).
USB Ports On Left - Perfect excuse to use a Bluetooth mouse such as the Logitech MX900 - works a charm with the internal BT. Internal Memory Module Access - 15 min job dead easy - See 8003 review thread or 8006 thread for instructions. SHBoyle, Does the fan on the ferrari 3200 run as often as the TM8006 fan. I would be interested to see the CPU temperatures using MobileMeter and at what temp the fan turns on and off at. I have a couple of people looking at the HW control for the CPU Fan as Acer cooling is Way to early in my opinion turns on at 46c and off at 40c - WAY TO EARLY for these chips. If I can get a fan control program sorted out like they have for the Dell inspiron I would be very happy. Having said that think I am going to artic Silver 5 the CPU in the TM8006 see if I can drop the cpu a few deg to keep the fan off longer. Last edited by Dekka; 06-09-2004 at 03:20 AM. |

Just a question about the battery.......is it easily swappable? Say you are on a long trip and want to watch a few dvds..... Great machine, bit worried about battery life though.

Adam@PCTorque: Are you really sure that you activated PowerNow! in Windows XP when you did the battery test?
It dosen't seem to me like you did, so you should ativate it by selecting Portable/Laptop in Control Panel>>Power Options>>Power Schemes that looks something like this: ![]() Then you should be able to use AMD's PowerNow! Dashboard to monitor your system and to make sure that PowerNow! really is active and it looks something like this: ![]() You can download the AMD PowerNow! Dashboard from here: http://www.amd.com/images/PowerNowDashboard_setup.zip http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...5E4396,00.html Also make sure that you've installed the latest AMD Athlon 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP that you can download from here: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont.../Cpudriver.ZIP http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...5E9706,00.html Enabling this should extend the battery life significantly, and reducing CPU heat dissipation and thus providing an even cooler and quieter-running system ![]() Last edited by snorre; 06-10-2004 at 04:48 AM. |
