yesterday night i was curious if i could surpass 30000 points on aquamark .. so following all the helpful guides of overclocking in this huge topic and the one found on extreme overclock i started setting up my 3200

through powerstrip i set the core speed at - 486/246 mem
then put my power scheme to always on and then used clockgen and set my HTT to 208.03 which put my CPU clock speed at a nice 1872Ghz.... and so we begin, after a few failed attempts.. i finally got it working at these settings and i am happy to say i broke the 30000 mark on aquamark coming in at 30284 (GFX=3738 CPU=7975)

but anyway i want to say thank you to snorre and whoever else put up helpful tweaking guides because if you didnt then it wouldnt of been possible for me to reach my goal...

Just use the "Max Battery" power scheme and all will be fine.

You have to download WinPlash or something, you can flash your BIOS when your still in windows. Im sure there is a downloadlink for that program on the same page as you found your bios. The support site of acer.

Ok, I have had my Ferrari 3200 for a few weeks now and loving it. But its about time to give it several upgrades. I'm still waiting for Seagate to release their 100gb 7200 rpm HD before I upgrade my HD but now I'm in a delimma with upgrading my ram.

Which is better 1gb (2 512mb) of Corsair XMS DDR 400 or 1gb (single stick) of Kingmax DDR 333 plus a stock 256mb of ram?

It'll be awhile before I can upgrade to 2gb so just assume that I'm not going to.

Thanks in advance

1GB Corsair XMS DDR 400 is much better than 1.25 DDR 333 because DDR 400 increase the memory bandwidth which is better for gaming.

Yes, the Acer Ferrari 3200/3400 can utilize PC3200 memory at DDR400 speeds.

I'm probably going to read this thread in its entirety and some of these questions may have been answered in this thread, but if it's not too much trouble:

Is heat a big issue, and if so, is there anything I can do to keep it cool? This will be my main machine for a while, so I'd like to do some gaming on it.

Is the memory easily upgradable? I'm not in the know when it comes to laptops, and I'd like to do this in about 6 months or so (and that would probably be the last performance upgrade, along with a new HD) I'd do with it).

Thanks

edit: Oh, and I'll probably do a fresh install of a new XP w/ SP2 (the new CDs). Is there anything special about formatting a laptop HD (either fdisk it or just use the formatting program within XP setup)? The mobo chipset is a VIA, so should I grab the latest 4-in-1s? Omega drivers over anything Acer modifies? Any drivers for other components I should be aware of? etc etc, you know the drill
