There is just sooooooo much information here - how do you get time to find it all? I can't even find time to LOOK at it all! Do you not sleep? (maybe you don't - you review says you had the lappy in bed with you & your wife was asleep beside you! :-)

Has anyone flashed their BIOS to v0205? If so, did you have problems that it fixed, and did it do anthing else such as improver performance or screw up other things?

So I've been playing with my z71v for a couple of days now. It has now died. I was watching a DVD and everything started getting jumpy and the computer went to a blue screen of death. I restarted my computer and now it is giving me a read disk error and won't start up. I tried everything I could with my limited computer knowledge and finally decided to try and reinstall windows. When I tried to boot straight to the dvd drive it won't let me even try because the computer isn't recognizing that any of the drives exist... including the harddrive. The harddrive sounds weird too... like its reading and clicking over and over in a set pattern.... Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts of what might be wrong or what I can do? The laptop was awesome and I was really happy until this happened.

Do you think I just got a bad harddrive and need a replacement, or is this something I can easily fix?

you cannot fix a hdd urself...
consider your data lost and u must RMA it

try to put it into another computer to check it too (laptop or desktop via connector), but im 99.9 sure that you got a bad hdd...

if you have another 2.5 hdd, try putting it in and see if it boots up..
if it does, the original hdd is broken

it happens man.. HDD's can go bad anytime

im sorry for your loss

Scrolling in Firefox

I wasn't able to scroll using the touchpad in Firefox. Apparently, this is an issue with the latest Synaptics driver. You can read about it by searching for "synaptics" on the Mozillazine forums http://forums.mozillazine.org/search.php?mode=results, especially this thread: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewto...ight=synaptics. I downloaded an earlier version of the driver from http://www.qditech.com.au/downloads.php , removed the current driver using Add/Remove Programs, and then ran the setup.exe for the later driver. I can now scroll in Firefox, though I haven't tested the old driver in other applications.

Go to www.laptopvideo2go.com and you could get an ever later version to use on this baby. Working great for me. I think I am using 76.41 right now, the latest leak out there is 76.50
