Question WTB: Cheap gaming laptop

Hey.....Newly registered here (though have been lurking for a few months now )...I am looking for a decent gaming laptop to play HL2 and CS (Discrete graphic chipset will be the best) and can pay around $800 . Any offers?
Thanks.

PS: Need a decent CPU, atleast 256 MB RAM and a 5400 rpm HDD (20GB is enough)....

Closest you may get for $800 is a Inspiron 9100 w/ a Radeon 9800 256MB.
Other than that...all others run pretty much over a 1K.

Right now....only things I found:

Compaq X6000 series on sale for $999 than has the option of an 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) X600.
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...true&tab=specs

Other options are to wait it out on Ebay or forums for a Sager w/ 256MB ATI 9700, or an older alienware. But $800 is really cutting it close for any 256MB vid card. YOu may have better luck w/ 128MB's.

maybe its just me but the phrase "cheap gaming laptop" is an oxymoron... if it games and games really well it wont be cheap.

I posted my 9100 on Ebay yesterday, no reserve. You can try to bid on it, and then look to upgrade the 64M 9700 it has... The thread with the link is here somewhere, I am not going to spam the link again...

I'm not selling mine, but you might look around for an eMachines M68xx system (or Gateway 74xx). Athlon 64 processor, Radeon 9600 graphics, 15.4" 1280x800 screen. Mine runs HL2 at near-max settings, runs Guild Wars, etc.

Very competent computer.
