Next upgrade for a 9100?

Ok, so I know that my chances of upgrading to the MR9800 are slim, so what would everyones' next suggestion for an upgrade be to improve gaming? A faster RPM hard drive? Possibly moving to a Northwood P4?

(System specs in my sig.)

Where did you get your 60GB 7200 RPM hard drive? Was it through dell? Or did you include it in the order? Dell isn't offering a lot of upgrade choices for this system.

2GB of RAM for 9100 = waste.
Hard Drive you can at least salvage for another system.

9100 CPU problems

I had to replace the motherboard in my 9100, afterwards I found out that my cpu was bad as well. I added a spare 1.6 p4 and it boots, but it gives me an error message saying my laptop supports ddr 400. I have 400 in there but the fsb on the cpu is throttling the ram down. Is there anyway to fix that or do I need to add a new cpu?

Not as much as getting that MR9800. You might want to give Dell Spar eparts a shot with the MR9800 since its not old enough for dell to actually run out of the part.

I was referring to the '2gb of ram is a waste' comment. :0)

I called Dell and they said they had the 9800 128MB for $260, but they were out of the 256MB, which WOULD be $398. HOW worth it is it to upgrade from the 128MB 9700 to the 128MB 9800 for that price? It seems kind of high to me...

How many memory slots are there inside the XPS GEN 1?? Can you upgrade to 2GB of ram using 4 512 mem chips or do you have to use 2 1GB memory chips.
