You would need to get the parts from Clevo (the Chasses Manufacturer).
Go to http://www.clevo.com.tw/
The Model number you have is the D900T. I dont think you will be able to repair that yourself, but Clevo may offer a repair service.
The telephone number is 01895 430 333 i think.
Good Luck.

first of all id like to thank you for the quick response. just got off the phone with clevo and they told me that they cant sell be the poard because of a contract with alienware. any suggestions on what i should do considering that the only solution that alienware seems to give me is send the thing back so they can have a "trained professional" take a look at it for $200+ then replace what i already know what is broken for another sum of money which they refuse to tell me and id have to pay for shipping both ways as well. i want to get my computer up and running but i cant afford to spend a grand to do so.

Unhappy W3rd

I got the same problem, my board fried off some transitors and the voltage regulator, and I am looking for a screenshot of the clevo board to get the part number.

Did you resolve your problem? I could use your advice

Anyone have a link to a closeup of hte board around hte CPU area?

Schematics on it?

Do alienware not offer a service to fix it? I realise you probably want to skip the labour charges but it surely couldnt be that much to swap a mobo?

I think the mobo alone is going to be 600-700. I wouldn't want to have to pay $200+ extra to have to send something to AW for a month for something that I would be able to swap in less then a half hour...free. It still annoys me that AW won't let clevo sell a replacement board or just send you one and let you put it in even if you don't care if the board is warrantied. I think the only way is a place like this http://www.excelcomputerinc.com/html/searchexcel.htm . I'm not sure If sager, hyper or falcon would help you out but if one of them would that's where I'd buy my next laptop. If AW would sell ppl certain parts for the machines that they sell so that ppl could get thier broken alienwares working again for just the cost of parts and not being without for over a month I would buy from them again. If AW didn't warranty the part because someone else put it in then fine by me. no skin off my back and it shouldn't be any skin off from AW's. I like my M7700 but If I ever buy another laptop I'm going to make sure the company I buy it from will sell me parts or not block any atempts at me getting parts from the manufacturer just so they can make another dollar from defective equipment they sold me. That kind of buisness feels dirty to me IMHO. They should be glad to send you out parts so can fix your own stuff. They shouldn't act like everybody is stupid and can't run a screwdriver. for this reason I'll never buy AW again until they change policy. If falcon, hyper or sager won't sell a customer parts either then I guess laptops aren't for me and I'll go back to my homebuilt desktops. If your company enough to sell something you should be company enough to sell parts for that something without haveing to jump through loops to get it or go through some stupid 20 day minimum bullcrap just so some AW tech can scratch the crap out of your lappy. 200 dollars is alot money for a mobo change. especially when they didn't even bother to reinstall windows on mine and sent it back with pretty much nothing working right. luckily I knew what I was doing and fixed it. obviously they didn't bother to do even 1 point of thier 200 point inspection for me. I believe thier inspection process is more of a delay tactic then anything. Bottom line is AW no shippy parts, me no buy anymore AW. my M7700 is a nice machine. I just wish I had the comfort of knowing I could get parts without sending it in. I figure if my mobo ever blows again I'll sell off my laptop part for part if I have any hassels getting one or have to send it in. could you imagine if GM wouldn't sell you a part unless GM put it in, then you have to wait a min of 20 days + shipping before you got your car back? sry 'bout the rant. this is the only issue with AW that I'm sensitive about. please let us know where you get a new mobo from and how everything turns out.

edit: Iskywise, I believe clevo D900t Is the mobo you need. I get the latest revision you can.

Word to that!

The highlighted part of the board is apparently the voltage regulator on my board that fried to oblivion... I wonder if anyone can tell me what the part number is or any information written on it.

Try PC Torque or Sager Notebooks.....they might be able to replace the board at a cost as these are the same model machines that they sell.
